The red family

Anecdote

A Red Family

You lay down on the bar for the whole association, some tulip glasses, a shot and the current Borrelcommissaris is all that is between you and the Borrelcommissaris-ship. And as they always say in the formula 1: “And it’s glass empty and away we go!” You are crawling for your life, while you drink the beer as fast as you can. At the end, you are finally able to declare yourself as the winner of the Triple-A-Penthouse grand prix. You get up and thank the outgoing members of the BorrelCie. But now is the moment everyone is waiting for, until there is no Duvel left. Everyone storms the new members of the BorrelCie behind the bar, screaming: “I want 5 Duvel, oh no make it 10.”

This is the moment that the new members begin to bond, not only with each other but also with the rest of the tappers of the BorrelCie. From the outside this might just seem like a normal committee, however, after everything what they experience together, they grow a bond like that of a family. This family has one home: The TAP, where once every two weeks they invite the whole association to join them for a drink at their home.

The red family stands ready for everybody to make it as cozy as possible in the TAP, with a drink to each his taste. The boxes blow nice tunes through the whole space. But this of course falls all into nothing compared to the tappers who provide you at any time with beer. But above all they are always open for a good conversation or the occasional gossip. With the proud feeling of a father for their children do I look at the tappers in red and how they provide everyone with their favorite beverages. This is the moment a feeling comes over me, a feeling that sets in after a long journey: “I’m home.”

Luckily, I can still say one more thing:

“Op den volgende!”
